With an Environmental Health Rating of 5/5, our chefs are well trained in cross contamination and exemplary hygiene standards. We are now using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), to ensure we keep our staff and customers safe. We will always use fresh ingredients to produce our dishes, so expect your dining experience to remain unchanged.
In usual circumstances, our team of housekeepers maintain an exceptional level of cleanliness throughout our venue. Additional measures are now taken to ensure regular contact points (such as door handles and light switches) are sanitised often.
To reassure our guests, we have installed screens within our public spaces to aid with social distancing.
Our staff will be wearing masks and gloves until we feel that the risks are diminished. They are knowledgeable and will guide customers with our social distancing and health and safety measures. All staff will be temperature screened on arrival to work, we will not take risks.
We will ask you to use hand sanitiser on entry to our premises, we hope that our guests will understand and cooperate. Guests may choose to wash their hands in our facilities instead. We will ask all guests to participate in non-contact temperature screening on arrival to our premises.
We will offer a table service only for all food and drink, our bar is closed to guests until we feel confident that risks are diminished. This might cause delays at busy times, our staff will be working hard to overcome this, your patience is appreciated.

A message to customers
Thank you for your support in the past, we think of our customers as our friends. At this testing and worrying time we hope that you all remain healthy and look forward to seeing you again in the near future.
A message to gift card holders
Please hold onto your gift card, it will become redeemable once we reopen. We will happily extend the validity of gift cards should this become a problem. We look forward to welcoming you back once the current emergency has passed. What better way to celebrate the return to normality than a visit to The Wheatsheaf.
A message to customers who have paid over deposits
We have a reduced team working remotely to process bookings transfers. Due to the high volume of requests and uncertainty around timings of government-restrictions, we are at present only dealing with bookings until 31 May. These customers may either change the date of their booking, request a gift card to the value of the deposit that can be redeemed at any time once we reopen, or request a refund. Please note that requesting a gift card or refund will take longer to process due to our reduced team. We are contacting customers who have paid deposits for bookings before 31 May directly.
Due to our team’s capacity and the uncertainty of how long government restrictions will last, we are not yet processing bookings changes for dates on or after 1 June 2020, but we will do so as soon as government advice changes.
A message to suppliers
Our supplier relationships are extremely important to us; we know that suppliers are suffering, just as we are. Both Pecks Restaurant and The Wheatsheaf Hotel are very well financed, and The Pear family will provide whatever financial resources are required to ensure that the businesses meet all of their obligations. Suppliers will be paid on time, when payments become due. We look forward to working with you all when the current situation resolves.

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that due to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the advice from our Government and the World Health Organisation, we are left with no option but to close The Wheatsheaf, Friday 20th March until further notice.
This extraordinary measure has been taken in the interest of both employee and guest safety which are of utmost importance to us. Unfortunately, during this time, we will have limited access to the restaurants social media, website and phones.
We look forward to reopening, when we are able, and to welcoming you back to the restaurant. May we take this opportunity to thank you all for the fantastic support and loyalty you have shown to us during this unprecedented time.
