The Wheatsheaf has been extensively restored to create a modern, relaxing ambience while retaining the architectural charm of its 19th century coaching inn heritage. The restaurant, bar and heated terrace areas have been professionally designed to create the perfect spot to sit back with a glass of champagne or a taste bud tingling cocktail and enjoy a fabulous food experience. Larger groups may even prefer to soak up the atmosphere with a speciality Gin Tree! Want to make a night of it? The luxurious boutique guestrooms have not only earned the coveted Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence but even won over the discerning competition on Channel 4’s Four in a Bed!

Our Executive Head Chef, Les Wassall, believes passionately in using the very best local produce. He prefers to have long term partnerships with local producers and wherever possible, visits farmers, fisheries and gamekeepers, to ensure that the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained. Free-range is a prerequisite. We also believe in working together with producers to develop products that enhance our menu and, by paying fair prices for what we buy.
 
A former coaching inn built in 1890, The Wheatsheaf in Hightown, Sandbach has been acquired by The Pear Family, who own Pecks Restaurant in Congleton.
The Pears have breathed new life into the historic building. Following an extensive refurbishment and restoration, The Wheatsheaf in Sandbach has become 'A Quintessentially British Gastropub'.
We aim to make the Wheatsheaf your regular haunt, appreciated for outstanding food quality, great beers, wines, cocktails, friendly engaging service, and perhaps most importantly, superb value for money.

Our team are well trained and completely focused on enhancing your experience. We will not be intrusive, but always on hand to help and serve you. Operations Director, Jake Pear, is hands-on and dedicated to your enjoyment of the Wheatsheaf. Our locally renowned Executive Head Chef, Les Wassall, aims to bring his fine dining skills to the relaxed gastropub environment that is, the Wheatsheaf.
